About Dynamics Days
Dynamics Days is organized to provide an interface for researchers from diverse scientific disciplines but with common interests in nonlinear dynamics, chaos, and complex systems. This meeting has become internationally known for facilitating researchers to share their most recent results in understanding, modeling, and controlling nonlinear dynamical systems. Traditionally, attendees have been mathematicians and physicists, but the interdisciplinary nature of the meeting has grown rapidly in recent years.
Dynamics Days has been held each January in the United States since 1982 and each June in Europe since 1980. The successes of the U.S. and European conferences prompted creation of the Dynamics Days Asia-Pacific in 1999. Approximately 170 researchers and graduate students, from an estimated twelve countries, attended the last U.S. conference, held in Boston, in 2007. For Dynamics Days 2009, we expect eighteen invited speakers presentating general session talks and tutorials; and approximately 50-80 posters. This year, we are emphasizing applications of nonlinear science in plasma physisc and complex flows; materials science and mechanics; biology, medicine and ecology; combustion and chemical systems, econophysics, and geophysical processes.
Since its beginning, a key goal of Dynamics Days has been to promote the participation and cross-discipline interaction of young scientists together with more established experts from a wide variety of fields. The meeting is deliberately structured to encourage active participation from young scientists through both invited and contributed oral presentations and poster sessions, as well as travel support.
